   the first time lennon died was supposed to be definitive.    he was not to wake up again, covered in vomit and drool, disoriented and hearing voices in his head. and yet here he was, arising from his heroin overdose like from a nap. an incredible amount of luck, is what it was.
   born and raised in salt lake city, utah,    lenny had never once suspected he possessed the mutant factor. the typical rebellious child evolved into low-life punk-ish behaviors, moving in with his best friend in a dilapidated apartment as soon as he hit 18. completely at odds with extremely religious education he had received from his father, reverend peterson, his life consisted of minor misbehaviors and unhinged parties. christianity never really had any appeal to him.
   while his overdose is entirely of his doing,    it still triggered a unique set of circumstances : one, the activation of his mutant genes, saving his life. two, the minor possession he was unknowingly going through for a few weeks now -- consequences of yet another attempt from mephisto to corrupt human souls. between life and death perpetually, it isn't entirely a ressurection. the mutant cells fight to keep him alive while demonic grasp fights to annihilate him, body and soul. this forever ongoing battle results in formidable regeneration abilities.
   however, the entire spectrum of his mutant powers was too interesting for mephisto to simply ignore.    hearing the whispers of the dead, to be able to manipulate the fallen and to destroy corporeal bodies without involving scheming, deals or pacts... a skillset the demon terribly needed to carry his plans to completion. while Mephisto can capture and detain the souls of recently deceased human beings, his necromancy powers have conditions, mainly needing for beings to willingly agree to submit to his will.

   the hell lord soon came to lenny to pressure him into making a bargain    -- to save his best friend's life, in a comatose state after a gruesome car accident, in exchange for three days a month under his control. lennon accepted, carrying psychopomp duties & participating to demonic scheming.   it all came to an end    when the x-men found him surrounded by rotting corpses, passed out before the mansion. freed from his pact after weeks-long fight & help from his fellow mutants, his victory marked his very first days in the x-men team.
   

abilities!

   allows him to regenerate    damaged or destroyed bodily tissue with far greater speed and efficiency than an ordinary human. His head or any other limb can be reattached using this ability.

    can manipulate the dead, death.    it can also communicate with the deceased – either by summoning their spirit as an apparition or raising them bodily. able to resurrect the dead to varying to degrees, from shambling corpses to conscious zombies but never complete Resurrection.

   can inflict damage to the opponent through their shadow,    which may kill the target and potentially destroy the body in the process.
